Genko Genov was born in 1923 in the village of Choba, Sliven. In 1948 he graduated in Painting Department at National  Academy of Art in the studio of Prof. Dechko Uzunov. There for some time he met with another very great artist from Burgas – Georgi Baev. Participates in various General Art Exhibitions. At the age of 43, in 1965, G. Genkov opened his first solo exhibition with watercolors on Blvd. Ruski №6 in Sofia. The official professional organizations do not think about the artist when awarding prizes and awards, they do not dedicate praise to him, but of course they will include him in any representative exposition going abroad. In 1973, with about 60 canvases on 125 Rakovski Street, Genko celebrated its 50th anniversary. He has two more exhibitions – 2000 – Independent exhibition in Sliven, 2006 – Independent exhibition in Sofia. Prior to the 1989 changes, Genkov was known in intellectual circles with the status of a dissident.

He died on 3 March, 2006
