In the 1960s and 1970s, Likas Yanko&#8217;s paintings were considered too &#8220;modernistic&#8221; in Bulgaria, although they follow certain directions in the West-European avant-garde.<\/p>\n<p>They call her &#8220;Picasso in a dress&#8221;. But to this definition he says, &#8220;I&#8217;m not Picasso, I&#8217;m Lika.&#8221; Lika Yanko  amazed with her style, she creates and finds herself her own creative way. She not only draws, but often uses buttons, glasses, pebbles, mosquitoes, and embroidery of whimsical and whimsical forms of her canvas. At first glance twisted and ugly, they come to life in its sails. The symbolism of her images is not an explanation. It itself does not explain the essence of the subject and allows anyone to penetrate it. <\/p>\n<p>Lika Yanko was born in 1928 in Sofia in a family of Albanian emigrants Lazar and Frosina. Since she was a child she sketches and draws. She grows up with her imagination. She enrolled in ballet to study Edgar Degas ballets. She studied at the French College of Sofia, influenced by the works of C\u00e9zanne, Van Gogh, Gauguin and others. At the Academy she studied in the class of Dechko Uzunov and Ilia Petrov.
