Andrey Yanev
“Communication”
painting
12 September – 01 October 2023
For the second time, the artist Andrei Yanev opens the autumn season of exhibitions at Nuance Gallery. Unlike his first exhibition, in which we showed you a collection of watercolors, this time the artist will present works with oil, acrylic, graphite. The paintings, united by the title “Communication”, will be exhibited from September 12 to October 1. In the following lines you can read the text written by Prof. Aksinia Djurova
“In today’s “Open World”, most paradoxically, the lack of communication deepens. Our society is becoming more and more disintegrated, confronted and less and less turns its gaze to the Creator. The disenchantment of the world has brought us before the abyss of permissiveness and omnivorousness.
Andrey Yanev is one of those artists who, realizing what is happening, look for hope, salvation and trust in the wisdom of tradition. He stubbornly continues his conversation with time, with the eternal and the divine, believing in the existence of a higher power, that of the Creator, whose light never ceases to illuminate his Path.
This neo-icon painter, a modern master of mysticism in Orthodoxy, has found its plastic equivalent in the present exhibition through the striking whiteness and gold-bearing halos of the Beloved Angels, the Virgin and Child, New Testament scenes, both scaling the images and subtly inscribing the scenes filled with acrylics, oil, graphite, pencil. All of them take us into the mystery that exists, but is rarely discovered by us in the frenetic everyday life.
There is something balladic about these images frozen in their ritualism with emphasized silhouettes despite the flickering vibration of the thinly laid painting. This concept further enhances their dematerialization to the point of disembodiedness.
Thus, with this exhibition, Andrey Yanev asserts himself as an original artist, consistently walking the Path of reaching universal harmony, providing us with the opportunity to break away, at least for a moment, from the noise of everyday society and aim for the beyond, realizing even , that this is unattainable.”
