“Roads, lights and shadows…”
oil painting
March 26 – April 14, 2024
With Dimitar Petrov’s exhibition “Roads, Lights and Shadows…” we introduce you to the creative pursuits of the artist from the last year, in which all the canvases for this exhibition were painted. The author’s painting, with its peculiar coloring, takes the viewer once again to memories and experiences from the recent past, which left a strong imprint on the artist’s mind. Dimitar Petrov knows how to transport the audience to the world of imagination, where man and nature are inextricably linked and live in harmony with each other. In the author’s abstract painting, nature always serves as a starting point or occasion for a personal encounter with his emotional state. The canvases included in the exhibition awaken in us the ability to look beyond form and logical thought and venture into the expanses of our imagination.
“Each creative manifestation poses the question of development, of its stages, as well as of the futurism of personal creativity. In an earlier period, Dimitar Petrov had a cycle called “Confused Dreams”. I have always doubted the names of abstract imagery. However, I now think that a title focusing on the concept of illusion is particularly appropriate for the artist’s works. Because the main pathos of this painting from its beginning until today, and probably in the future, is the beautiful illusion to create a harmony that suggests the possibility of harmony in real life as well.” – Dimitar Grozdanov
