Previously unveiled paintings by Mario Zhekov at the Nuance Gallery in Sofia 37 paintings, most of which have not been shown so far, featured the exhibition of the artist from Stara Zagora, Mario Zhekov (1898-1955), which was opened with great interest, on 5 July at the Nuance Gallery in Sofia. The great Bulgarian painter dignified in the history of European art from the first half of the 20th century and is among our best landscape and mariners. The impressive exposition, with works from private collections, will be available until September 13. The paintings, which are part of the exhibition, are in all the techniques in which the artist has expressed himself – oil on canvas and on cardboard, gouache, several watercolors from different periods of his life. In the glass window in the gallery can be seen some of the personal belongings of the great artist – paint and brushes, his pipe, old business card and several pictures of Mario Jekov, painted on the beach, provided by Ivo Ghenev – the son of the deceased Jenyo Jenev, who until recently was the artist’s closest living relative. The message of painting by Mario Zhekov is that man is a particle of the cosmos, he remains connected with nature. By wisely looking at things, with creative energy, with imagination, one can perceive the laws they have in the natural environment. To turn natural phenomena and sights into your own experiences. This is what Mario Jekov left us through his works – the experience of the creative person turned into a universal jitter of light, color, shape and smell …
