Facts-Illusion-Truth
21 March – 09 April
Nuance Gallery invites you to the exhibition “Facts-Illusion-Truth” by Stiliyan Dichev, which you can see from March 23 to April 9. This is another abstract adventure in which the author takes us with his new project.
“This is a true story about fictional objects and characters. One of the main goals I have set for myself in recent years in my work is to present the abstract, the fictional, the non-existent as a convincing fact. To make the viewer not ask the question: “What do you mean”, but to contemplate and feel the depicted as an undeniable truth. A difficult but worthwhile task.
Art is a beautiful illusion and is an expression of the subjective view of the artist who lives in another dimension of his own, where contemplation creates images.
Even as a student, it was more interesting for me to depict the atmosphere and aura of the object than to imitate its physical likeness. I thought and still think today that there is a radiation around us that expresses us more strongly than our real image. Our memories of an object, a person, a landscape are abstract, and this is precisely the connection between our perceptions and the world in which we live.
I continue to believe that abstraction is one of the best ways to express that feeling, illusion or feeling of everything that surrounds us. The primordial question of spirit and matter continues to be on the agenda and to seek its solution. In times which are defined rather as the triumph of matter than the victory of spirit, we artists should discover what is hidden from our sight.
That’s why I named my current exhibition as such, in my desire to show my look at what hovers around us and creates images that are fantastic, fictional, but somehow real.”
