Kalia Kalacheva is one of the most recognizable young and already established artists on the Bulgarian stage. In recent years, she has developed her picturesque aesthetics through diverse techniques without neglecting her favorite themes and imagery.
In the “Air on Wood” exhibition, the familiar dense structures of urban landscapes have been brought to abstract visions as if dependent on the mood of the air. The wood panels, replacing the canvas, lighten the experience, the breathing becomes soft, the imagination gradually reveals depth in the images. “Pieces” from previous events and landscapes come to life in a new way, and airspace defines the space and shapes swirling on the tree.
The technique used by Kalia Kalacheva is absolutely unconventional, and the realization of such a project, which we would hardly be likened to something familiar in art, is a sign of artistic authenticity. It is a sign of that vibration, prompting the creator to constant experiments, guided only by the intuition of exploring unfamiliar territories.
The AIR on WOOD exhibition does not present a new comfortable area for Kalia Kalacheva – it is a stage on the way to the artist’s artistic growth.
